Arsenal advanced to League Cup semifinal after beating Wigan 2-0. Playing in snowy weather in Emirates Stadium Arsenal lead the game when Wigan captain Alcaraz wrongly headed Walcott's corner into his own goal. Nicklas Bendtner secured the win by scoring Arsenal second goal with the help of Vela's assist.
Altough rotating most of his side in the game, Wenger still shows a very competitive line-up for the match. Only Koscielny and Wilshere who are playing again after the weekend. But the other line up consist of qualities, Djourou, Gibbs, Eboue, Denilson, Van Persie, Vela, Walcott and Bendtner are competitive enough to play in the league. Wenger also bring up Nasri in second half but also giving the chance to youngsters like Craig Eastmond and JET.
Vela was playing impressive in the match almost scoring the first goal when his chip ball didn't meet the net.
Arsenal will be the last big four on semifinal after Manchester United was surprisingly beaten 4-0 by West Ham. Playing the rotation player also Ferguson's side seem lost their focus against the impressive Obinna and Cole. Quite hurting also that the first two goal came from United ex-player Jonathan Spector.
Arsenal will face Ipswich in the semifinal, so if they can keep up the concentration they have the biggest chance securing the first trophy this season. Although Wenger say that he aim more like Premier League and Champions League, this competition will be important for him as many of critics about the silverware are rising on him this season.
