My Sport Heroes (2): Paolo Maldini

Biography. Paolo Maldini was a left back and centre back playing for Italy and AC Milan. Maldini was a sign of quality and loyalty. He played really well until retiring in the age of 36. He helped AC Milan got many trophies. His natural position was left back but then becoming central back in his senior age as it need more focus than stamina. As a defender he’s not only defending well but he usually helped attacking from left side and even scoring goals sometimes.

My Experience. Maldini is my hero as I started playing real football. His position as a side back was something I really like to imitate as I feel comfortable in that position, even though I was right footed. One of my favorite from Maldini was his timely well sliding tackle. Sometimes he would run to the opponent and grab the ball with a smooth and clean sliding tackle. His big and strong appearance helped by positive attitude make him a great looking captain in the field. Unfortunately I’m not AC Milan fans, so many times I only watch him in international games although I would sometimes also see his club in big matches like UEFA Champions Cup (now UEFA Champions League) and most of the times in daily or weekly highlights. Like I said he got quality (skill and ability) and loyalty that to me its hero enough.
