AFF Cup Round-Up: Indonesia Thump Laos To Qualify For Semis, Thailand Held Again By Malaysia

Firman Utina
Indonesia continued their scintillating form in the AFF Cup, qualifying for the semi finals of the competition with a 6-0 thrashing of Laos in Jakarta.

The result comes just three days after Alfred Riedl's men thumped Malaysia 5-1 to put them in an unassailable position in Group A.

Bryan Robson's Thailand meanwhile missed a host of chances during their scoreless draw with Malaysia and are in serious danger of going out of the tournament at the group stages.
They have the unenviable task of trying to secure their qualification against Indonesia on Tuesday; they sit one point ahead of both Malaysia and Laos, who will face each other in the other match.

Riedl's side will be full of confidence heading into their match against the Thais. They turned on another outstanding attacking display against Laos, Firman Utina netting a double.

Muhammad Ridwan, Irfan Bachdim, Arif Suyono and Oktovianus Maniani also got in on the scoring act.

Their confidence in front of goal is a stark contrast to the uncertainty that is plaguing Robson's side at the moment, as they succumbed to another disappointing draw following their failure to beat Laos on Wednesday.

They'll need to beat the co-hosts in their final group game to assure themselves of a place in the semi finals.
